My favorite bread machine bread recipe...

I recently discovered the value of owning a bread machine.  So far it's the tastiest way to save money that I've found.  I can make about 6 to 8 loaves of bread in my machine for about the same amount that I would spend on 2 loaves of bread at the grocery.

I've tried several different recipes and even a bread mix.  The bread mix was good but costed a little more than making it from scratch so I decided to go with the cheapest method.  Turns out that it's even better than the box mix.

So long story short I thought I'd share my favorite bread machine recipe with you.  The recipes that I have tried have all come from allrecipes and the one I am sharing I found to be the easiest and best tasting.

Best Bread Machine Bread

1 cup warm water
2 tbs white sugar
2 1/4 tsp yeast
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 cups bread flour
1 tsp salt

Place the water, sugar and yeast in the pan of the bread machine.  Let the yeast dissolve and foam for 10 minutes.  Add the oil, flour and salt to the yeast.  Select the basic or white bread setting and press start.

Notes:

You can find the original recipe Here.  The only thing that I changed is the yeast.  It calls for a .25 oz package of bread machine yeast.  Since I find it cheaper to buy the yeast by the jar I changed it in my version to help with the conversion.  Also my bread machine doesn't have a "basic" or "white" setting so I played around and found that I get the best loaf from the "Bread(Light)" setting on my machine which is about 4 hours in length.

Hope you all enjoy!

  1. Oh Man! I wish you would have posted this about 1 month ago, before I gave away my bread machine! Perhaps I'll try it in the oven! Love Penny
